We enjoyed a peaceful ceremony in the inspiring St. James Episcopal Cathedral. The air conditioning was a respite from the heat and humidity outside.
Afterwards, Sara and Robert enjoyed some private time by separating from their bridal party for a photo shoot at Milton Olive Park near Navy Pier.
The reception was at the amazing Murphy Auditorium where we joined the bridal party for some group photos before cocktail hour. All the women were in different pink shoes and the men all had blue argyle socks! Sara is an actress and had fun playing the role of Queen to Robert’s Handsome King on the throne-like seats inside.
Sara put her personal touches all over the day. She designed and decorated the place cards and table number cards and had help from her sister putting them together. She also designed the place card frames and the guestbook.
Sara had a sweets table loaded with home baked goods contributed by her mother, 4 aunts, her sister, a cousin, and 4 family friends. The cutting cake was made by Whole Foods. The Cake topper was a porcelain figurine from her grandparents’ figurine collection.
All the floral items were assembled by an aunt in a pink, yellow, and deep cyan theme. It was a lovely summer day kind of color combination.
Sparklers and noise makers were set out for the exit at the end of the night but due to city codes and strict enforcement from the staff of The Murphy Auditorium we didn’t get sparklers fired up while the couple left the building
The noise makers were a hoot though and guests were having fun with the sparklers while walking back to their cars and hotels.
It was a very special night that we were privileged to be a part of. Congratulations to Sara and Robert!
